Like, I basically just want something simple. Just the Microsoft Office, and virus protection, right? My friend suggested Open Microsoft, since the software is expensive, but I don’t know how to do it. As for the Norton anti virus, I don’t know how to get it too, and I don’t know the price for both softwares. I’m a student who really doesn’t have a big budget for these.

I used to use MS Money but I see they have stopped selling it.
Can you recommend a good personal financial budgeting software? I want to maintain detailed bank statements, pensions, mortgage info, and stock portfolios all in one place.
I want the functionility of MS Money.
Thanks

I will use the laptop for normal engineering student activities (word processor, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.). I will also need to run AUTOCAD and, possibly, GIS software. I am a freshman and do not have a full understanding of my future software and hardware needs to get the laptop that mmets my needs. I may add to my budget if needed, but within limits, to avoid having to upgrade in the next three years. Please tell me what specific laptop to buy and/or the features I should seek.

What’s a good editing/ movie making software? I’m making some videos which are a mix of real life but also machinima (machine+cinimea ex Sims 2 and Halo movies). But I’m on a low budget for this, maybe only up to $200 at the most. Any reccomendations?
I have a PC by the way if that helps. I’m just looking for alternatives to Windows Movie Maker.

I am a student of computer science course. I ask this question just for gaining knowledge. So, kindly please answer this question with details.
For some software developers, especially individuals who develop open source software, their budget is very limited.
Lets see this example: Assume that the developers of an open source free software (totally free to use) currently using Windows Vista to develop the software. Users of Windows Vista reported that the software run properly under Windows Vista without problem. But, users of Windows 7 reported that the software does not support Windows 7 (errors, cannot run, bugs, ….. etc). But, the budget of those software developers does not allow them to buy Windows 7. In this situation, how they can fix the issues for Windows 7 users, and make their software fully support Windows 7, without asking users for donation?

(Mac) What software should I use to make a good animated intro for my movies?
I have a Mac, and I would like to make an animated intro to the videos that I am creating. I pretty much would like the text to be animated, with a few objects moving in the background. I have Final Cut Express and iMovie. What software would be ideal for quickly creating this intro movie? I have a budget of $1500, if I have to buy an expensive software.
Thanks for your input

Hey guys! I love Weta Digital’s custom-built crowd simulation software, MASSIVE and I want to use it for my films, including my first professionally-made feature-length film, Dinosaurs: An Epic Prehistoric Tale. Well, Would I use MASSIVE software for Dinosaurs: An Epic Prehistoric Tale, which will be made for a budget of $330 million, and in an aspect ratio of 2.35:1, shot and exhibited completely on 24-P digital HD video, released with a theatrical running time of 200 minutes, and blending together Ultra-Realistic CGI, Animatronics, Digitally Enhanced Live Action Photography, Miniature Sets, Digital Environments and Matte Paintings, a few live action characters, Traditional 2D Hand Drawn Animation (drawn and animated in the same animation/art style as Dexter’s Lab: Ego Trip) and VFX wizardry to bring to life the dinosaur herds and packs, The 300 Raptors, The Dino-Battle, etc.? What if MASSIVE Software could be used in a dinosaur movie like mine?
