I’m making a low budget horror pic and am torn between these two products, mostly because of cost and operating system. I already got the camera and accessories (I bought the brand new Canon HV20).
I personally have no problems with macs and PCs in general. And from what I hear, both Final Cut and Avid are excellent editing softwares, they have both been used on various movies (i.e. Final Cut for “300″ and Avid for the “Matrix” films).
But people keep saying Macs and Final Cut is the best to get. So I’ll have to spend $1500 on mac computer and $1300 on Final Cut Pro? I see that Final Cut Express is much cheaper but I’m not too sure what’s so different about it and is it an advantage or disadvantage to Final Cut Pro?

I currently own a pro tools mbox 2 and have 2 computers. One for production. One for recording. I am debating on weather or not i should take the memory from the old one and put it on the new one, and control everything from there or use both computers. Thats one question. My real problem is that I only have the recording hard/software (pro tools). I have decided on a mic (the rode nt1A), but i cant find any QUALITY, cost efficient monitors.
Also what are the +/- to buying a sound card.
Pro Tools lets me mix through the software. Why do i need a mixer?
Mic Pre Amp. Why?
I know its a lot, but I really need help on this one!
Look out for me!
Thanx.
I am lookin more for a final mix down mixer (if that made sense), but what are the advantages of an input mixer? What about a sound card? any advantages of getting one?
By the way. Thanx! That helped

To promote something (you don’t want to know, so boring) I was looking for something I could make Flash animations with. Perhaps a few 5-minute episodes. I’m not looking for miracles, just something that looks OK and doesn’t end up wooden and dull. Think something like the early “Eddsworld” episodes. So, any links?
Virus-free, and of course free of price- I’m on a budget. And I know that, because it’s free, I won’t get miracles, but anything good enough? I’ve tried looking myself but… uh… (I haven’t a clue what’s good or what’s not.)

I have a very limited budget. I’m using a computer I built myself a few years back and the pc specs are fine but I’m toying with two options and wondering what you think. Right now I’m using photoshop cs2 to edit photos but I’m really in need of something to help with organizing as I’m getting more serious about my photography. The monitor I am currently using is the Dell M782P CRT and I can afford to either get a decent sized LCD monitor or buy Adobe Lightroom 3 and the pantone huey pro so I can calibrate my crt. Which option would you say would be the most prudent and why?

Hello, I have started to make movies, and I need a good video editing program. My budget, is from $1.00 – $130.00. I need a program that has a lot of good effects, able to put in transitions that can switch to another scene within a blink of an eye, able to take out audio itself from a video, and others. Oh, and also able to make decent wordings, than Microsoft Movie Maker, and introductions. And much more other stuff, if you know what I’m talking about. Also, if you could, could you let me know how it is, and if you liked it and stuff, and just give a review? Thanks so much.

I know there is no system to beat the casino in the long term. Many roulette players bet blindly and randomly with no regard to the investment/return ratio. eg bet 10 chips…your nbr comes up but u only win 8 chips on a corner bet.The stats on that 1 chip is and example of poor play…hope to loose 1 chip but can loose 10 chips.! Isn’t it better to bet 6-9 chips on splits with a return of 17 chips. even at random?…better still cover certain sectors or zones on the wheel.Presently many roulette websites tout various sysems and software on the internet with exhobitant claims but with no statistics to back up their claims!.If the statistics are correct what do yahoo users think of my plan?.It is definitely less boring but are the odds better than just playing black or red?The system is designed to be flexible to target more black or more red nbs as trends or run of nbs indicate. It is meant to keep the player alive in between spins while waiting for a run of same colour or zone.

I work on a project at my high school that’s basically just a computer class where we record and edit video into weekly episodes for entertainment. We just got a grant for a brand new iMac (top of the line, 2.8 GHz and everything).
Since we have this new Mac and Final Cut Pro (version 6, I believe) I thought that it was time we bought a new camcorder.
We’ll be on a budget so I was looking for cameras under $800. I found the Canon HG10.
I know that this camera records in AVCHD to an internal hard drive. My question is, can I import this format into Final Cut Pro, edit it, and then export it and burn it to a DVD easily? We don’t use HD-DVD’s so it would have to fit on a regular DVD and from what I’ve heard Final Cut converts it to a different format that is HUGE.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I had an IBM ThinkPad before but had a bad experience with the hard drive crashing. I am a life-long windows user and don’t mind vista too much–and am familiar with the Mac interface as well.
I use my computer for web browsing primarily, and word process a lot as well (I’m a college student). Most of my storage is dedicated to software programs and music, and the only real need is that I do some modeling in excel that requires speed and the ability to use excel with Microsoft Windows shortcuts (only an issue w/ the Mac, so parallels or Boot Camp would be required).
I’m really open to anything, and my budget goes up to around the $2100 for a MacBook Pro, though I don’t know if I truly need that sort of juice. Also, I like to use my laptop at home with a monitor, keyboard, and mouse so a docking station is important. Last, I travel but weight/size isn’t of the utmost importance.
Thanks!

I am trying to make a low budget sci-fiction movie… There’s going to be lot of CG elements like fighter planes, missiles, turbo jets, explosions, bike-car sounds etc. I want to know where we can find sound effects for these stuffs. As i said, its low budget… so if you can suggest some site from where we can download free sound effects of these kind, it will be great. Otherwise also fine.
If there are some other techniques to create these sounds through some software, then also please suggest…
Thank you
