Digital Camcorder Software HELP?

I am looking for a decent digital cam. with hard-drive / memory stick storage. It’s for work so it doen’t need to many frills. Good battery life, image stability, and more on the durable side. Budget $500-$1000
Also looking for a good DVD creation software. Want to be able to put video and stills onto a dvd that is presentable and easy to use. The ability to subtitle both video and stills would be a plus. I also want to be able to manually navigate stills not just let them roll in a time fram interval.

Sony Vegas comes with DVD Architect which allows you to create your own menus, chapter selection, etc.
