I have a budget of under $900. I will be using Adobe Premiere Elements 8 as my editing program. Due to my budget, a few compromises will need to be made, but since I’m using Premiere Elements and not the professional version of the software, I’m hoping I can find a system that is adequate.

My question is what is more important in video editing: fast processor, fast and large video card, or lots of RAM?

I was at first going with a barebone kit I found on tigerdirect but then I heard so much good things about the new Intel i7 920 Processor that im looking to build on that profile, but then I heard more things about the AMD Quad … I won’t be gaming on this PC, I just want something that can handle 3DS MAX, MAYA , PHOTOSHOP, etc. pretty much 3D rendering software.

So, StarCraft II comes out next week, and that means I’m in the market for a new computer.

I’ve been browsing the Dell and HP websites for the last two days, and I’m only getting frustrated. The biggest decision seems to be the graphics card. I want a desktop computer that can run SC2 without trouble, but it doesn’t have to be ultra-performance. Solid computing at medium settings is all I expect. My budget – for software, tower, monitor, and peripherals – tops out around $1,000 or so.

Meeting SC2′s specs for processor speed, RAM, and hard drive space all seem easy enough to meet at any retailer. Prices seem to skyrocket with a high-end graphics card. The reviews I’ve read for standard cards aren’t very promising.

So: Building a system from the ground up, within about a thousand bucks. What would you do?

hey guys, can anyone give me a review of my future PC build? Here’s a link,

http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=19616887

It is a budget everyday software use semi-gaming rig. I’m not using it for extreme super dooper gaming (most of my gaming will be at 1300*x700* resolution standard). I am also building this for school. I’m taking video encoding lessons and as well, adobe products lessons too. I just need a budget build that can handle all that, and keep up with today’s technology.

Well, what do you guys think?

Okay so I have about $1000 NZD to build my new computer.
I’ve been looking around and found these components:

Processor – AMD Phenom II x4 945 3.0GHz AM3
Mobo – Asus M4A785TD-V EVO
RAM – Kingston ValueRAM DDR3 PC10600/1333MHz CL9 2x2GB
Hard Drive – Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 32MB 1TB
Graphics Card – EVGA GeForce GT 220 DDR3 HDMI 1GB

What should I change about this?
Also, soundcards, anyone know any good value soundcards?
I was thinking a 750w power supply would cover everything easily.
I need a good graphics card, as I’ll be using it for 3D rendering and generation software ect

hope that’s enough info :) please help! my first build from scratch!
on jacks advice, i’ve decided to go with an MSI R5770 Hawk graphics card :)
Also, switching to the ASUS M4A88TD-M EVO/USB3 because it has the 880 chipset like jack said, and i can get it for only $9 more :) :)

I would like to buy some products to allow me to recording my electro acoustic and electric guitar.

The Shure SM57 mic has been reccomended to me, but it uses the 3 pin connectors, I have a very basic sound card, what do i need?

Alternatively, I can carry on what I have been doing already but get better equipement, so what are my options for plugging the guitar to the computer. Is it possible to plug the guitar straight into the line in without using any preamp then amplify the sound using software? or is the only way to get a preamp?

Can someone provide me with cheapest solutions for these 2 different routes ?

I have a cheap pc mic that I use for skype and stuff, i dont think its good enough for this though

I have a access to Sony acid and sound forge but i have never used them.
I have used audacity, and recording using my pc mic but it picks up loads of unwanted noise.
