I’m 13 and I love rap. I want to make my own beats, so I need an easy program that works well for beginners. I want a program that allows me to put together loops and also make my own loops. It needs to work on Windows XP and it would be nice if was also compatible for the newer version of Windows. I am on a budget of around $50 so I don’t want anyone saying FL Studio. I know my school uses Jam Trax and I was thinking about that unless there is something better. What do you suggest?

I just started using the free online version of Quicken to link my 3 bank accounts and main credit card to get an idea of where my money goes and all that. I really like it for the following features:
- Group summaries (e.g. Home, Auto, etc.) with charts
- Automatic uploads from bank, credit card
- Upcoming Transaction entry for budgeting
BUT I am hoping to find a program that will show a forecast farther out than two pay periods, as well as including a weekly or bi-weekly transaction in the forecast multiple times (e.g. I have one transfer set up every week to send money to my savings account when I get paid – the whole “pay yourself first” thing – but it doesn’t appear in my forecast more than once even though it is listed as weekly). I have tried Mint, which looks nice but doesn’t forecast, so it doesn’t quite fit the bill. Using financial software isn’t necessary, which is why I don’t want to pay for something, but if spending $20 or less would get me a program that will allow for mostly accurate forecasting more than 1 month out, as well as sorting the categories and automatically refreshing directly from my bank accounts online I would gladly do it. I hope I was descriptive enough, and thank you in advance for your suggestions!

I am looking for a program that will allow me to create music from scratch on my computer. Not looking for the top of the line product, just something to have some fun with. Budget is $200 max. Fruity loops caught my attention at first because the price didn’t seem bad, but when I looked at some FL tracks that people posted on youtube the sound quality reminded me the tunes on a 90s gameboy videogame. It just seems like there has to be something out there that sounds OK that doesn’t cost 400 bucks. Any suggestions?
PS sorry if I offended any FL aficionados.
Virtual DJ, as far as I can tell if for mixing existing songs together, not creating songs.
Anyone else? Anything other than fruity loops?

we recently purchased a yamaha usb recording interface, it came with cu base a1. at the store they mentioned something about the Program being the lite version of cu base (don’t know if this is true or not). well the program downloaded fine but when we recorded some tracks they recorded fine but i seems that there’s Lots of glitches in the system. it turns on things by itself and so on, but that’s not the major problem. whats happening is on the playback of the track we get digital distortion. we have determined its not the interface or our pa (windows media plays the tracks just fine through the interface) or the computer the system requires 1g ram and 1gh processor. the computer being used has 3g ram processor so it cant be the comp it must be the program. now the question is dose any one have experience with cu base, have you experienced this problem, is it the lite version, are there better versions of cu base, can the distortion possible be fixed in the program, is there a better alternative to cu bas (not pro tools). we are actually used to pro tools but is kinde of out of our budget right now. any profesional answers would help.
we would probably want a differant program this one is starting to be a big hassel
hassle
the computer being used has 3g ram and 2gh prosessor if i did not mention this in the paragraph

I need a program to highlight features of a museum. I have a floor plan image that will have hot spots or triggers in each area of the museum that can be clicked on to advance the slide show. the slide show will show pictures of the displays, art, have text, etc. the slideshow will need to run right next to the floor plan so they are both visible at the same time. An option would be to have the images pop up in a new window. The software will will have to be simple to use and inexpensive as we are dealing with budget cuts. Any thoughts?

Our school (Yes, yet another ambitious school project) is going to make a render farm – basicly connecting loads of old motherboards in one big enclosure together by a network switch – that has a budget of £0. All the would-be slaves run off one networked drive, meaning that its basicly a plug and play functionality – Slot in the motherboard, connect the Ethernet port, set to load from network as default, DONE!. This is so that we can add the growing pile of old motherboards quickly (roughly 2 minutes per board). And its going well. All the motherboards work fine, they all boot from the network drive.
BUT!
We cant find an application that will render our animations across the network. Dr Queue just drove us crazy, as the guides required setting blender up on every motherboard, meaning that it takes 20 minutes just to get one board running. So my question is:
Is their a programme out their that is just one, single application, that can be set to run on start-up (through batch file or whatever) for a slave/worker and another that will issue the commands to the slave programme, and how do you use it?
Thanks very much in advance, its been niggling at us for days!
