I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 right now and it’s on it’s last legs.
I know £400 is not a huge budget but it’s all I can afford (and that is stretched to the limits - ideally it would be closer to the £350 mark).
I’m not a high tech user, no gaming or fancy software, just simply general internet usage, office and photos and music. I have a huge amount of photos and music but I plan on keeping them on this laptop and using it as a back up, so the new one wouldn’t be too full. I want a good processor, a decent battery life and hard drive. I’ve been back and had a look at Dell and there doesn’t seem to be as much choice as there was when I got this, and I don’t know where else to start!
Thanks for the suggestion, a lot of my friends have suggested the same, but I’m going to stay away from Ebay for this - last time I bought anything expensive from Ebay (an ipod, years ago when they started coming out so were pretty expensive) I never received the item - long story short due to a legal loophole I only got a tiny fraction of my money back. I know it’s unlikely but if I lose this money that’s all I have and won’t be able to any work (or go on Yahoo Answers hehe, more importantly :P). Plus I have absolutely no technological knowledge whatsoever so the moment there was a fault I’d be screwed! Thanks though! :-)

How does this sound to anyone?
I’m a real technophobe so I don’t really know what I’m looking for.
I’m happy with a 160gb hard drive, that’s what I have now.
AMD Sempron™ SL42 processor - what is that like?
2 hour battery life - is that below average? I can’t remember what this one was meant to be but it doesn’t last anywhere near that long now.
Or this…

your best bet would be to try ebay. I found a pretty good laptop for about 250 US - whatever that translated into your currency. You can get them cheaper if there is something wrong with them, if you have any technical experience, you can just fix it yourself ^^
