Hahaha yeah right!!!!!! asked:
I need virus software with spyware protection, but I am on a college student’s budget so I need something that won’t break me but still has great protection. And I need to know where to get it.

From past experience, you can get good things for less these days.
I personally have used everything I’ll go over, so I do have knowledge of this, being heavy in IT.
I personally use AVG Free 8, a decent scanner that is FREE.
If you’re looking to pay, I’d go for McAfee first, and wouldnt touch norton anything with a 10ft pole. It causes a lot of conflicts, I’ve seen viruses disable it like nothing, and it overall slows your machine down, proven by countless benchmarks.

I would suggest ESET NOD 32 Smart Security which I personally use.. and it is available at
dont go for those commercial antivirus/spyware protection plans with norton or any such websites they would slow down your system and make your computer a walking hell with you just try the 30 day free-trail and then purchase it as its the most cost effective program available

Depends on what you want out of it. There is a slew of free stuff out there like Avast and AVG, but you get what you pay for. If you have an issue, its up to you to deal with it.
I chose a product called SecureIT. Its a neat little program that has the protection and automatic updating, but the standout feature I see is that I get free 24/7 technical support if I have any issues.

You can get free virus protection from AVG on the Internet. I got mine from Norton. $70 per year.

There are so many anti-virus software programs out there now that you will be lucky if you find 2 people who agree what is the best. I use AVG 8 Free at home and have been since AVG 6 was out. I have never had any issues. The free version has no Spyware but Ad-Aware if a free program as well that takes care of that. Running both programs will have less of an impact in system performance than running a purchased virus protection program as well.
If you want to “buy” something I would get McAffee. I wouldn’t go with Norton as it gives you more problems and makes your computer slower than if you actually had a virus or two.
