Hands down the best free anti-virus is AVG Free 8.0. It is very easy on system resources, doesn’t nag at you to buy the paid version and includes free automatic updates and scans daily.

List of antivirus programs and ratings.

    AVG Free

    Avast! 4 Home
(if a virus infection is persistent, use Avast to do a boot-scan - click on “schedule boot-scan” and restart the computer)

    Mcafee Free tools

    Anti-Spyware

    Ad-Aware 2008

    SpyBot Search & Destroy

    Superantispyware:

    Other:
    CCleaner (cleans out caches)

Malware removal tool (not an active scanner)

I would say that by and large, AVG is the best anti-virus software on the market today.

Kaspersky is the very best you can buy. Norton sucks, AVG is ok…

OVER HERE. sorry, anyways norton slows down your pc and nothing is free in life without a catch so svg out the door) the best antivirus there is MCafee the second best and its way cheaper (get it on sale) is windows one live care you can download the trial version for 3 MONTHS!! that will give you enough time to get one on sale (cheapest 14.99 for 3 pcs when i goes on sale) its a windows anti virus so its better than any other because who else will know windows than the makers get your trial at

and its really good with the system does not slow it down

If you can buy then go for “kasparsky”.
If you need a free version of antivirus go for AVG 8.0,which is powerful and bundled with antispyware, browser search shield and lot more features.

    DONT DOWNLOAD AVG…….

AVG IS ONLY FOR POPULARITY BUT IN DETECTION OF WILD VIRUSES ARE VERY POOR / LOW DETECTION RATE AS COMPARED WHAT I RECOMMEND…ACCORDING TO MY SOURCE….

in my opinion better change ur antivirus with AVIRA it has FREE and PAID COMPLETE SOFTWARE…

    i recommend AVIRA ANTIVIR….
