Spybot, Adaware. Both are free.

The internet or buy some software to use the free stuff is ok for bandaid but should not be relied on if you are going to prevent spyware the internet use the internet use it responsibly.

if running spybot search and destroy doesn’t work then go to Start->Run and type in MSCONFIG and hit ok, from there go to the last tab and find the ad-ware program and disable it.
**It will still be present on your machine this only disables it from running at start up**
