I want to do professional-quality digital video productions- what’s the best software for use with windows?

budget software
grande_illusions2 asked:

Some friends and I want to produce some low budget straight to DVD digital animated films, and none of us own a mcintosh so Final Cut Pro isn’t an option at this time. Does anyone know what the best windows compatible software(either XP or Vista) would be to use for this purpose? We’d like to have the ability to do blue/green screen video editing, non linear editing, audio mixing, and possibly title/credit creation, as well as creation of the dvd and menus the film will be on. Money is no object as this is the most important component of this project, next to the camera itself. Are there any independant filmmakers out there that use windows to edit their children, and if so what do you recommend?(short of buying a new apple pc!)

Thanks in advance to anyone who might have an answer to this!

Go to the adobe website. They have some really good products that you can use. Price ranges from $600 on up for what you’re probably looking for.

    Consider looking into Adobe Premiere

check out Adobe.com and look for adobe premier, depending on what you are doing they have several programs like after effects for animation(has some 3D), flash also for animation, and of course photoshop extended which now has some 3D capabilies. If you are doing many things try to stick with Adobe, every new release ie. CS, CS2, CS3, become more and more compatible with each other and it just makes life that much easier! And you don’t need a mac for a damn thing, anyone that says so is just like some cult member trying to get you to join! I have been using pc’s for serious CAD programs for a long time, most of these are not made for mac and for good reason, macs can’t communicate with the across platforms in the manufacturing industry, they were only good for a specific area, and that is just no longer true!
